I am very fortunate to have so many Wing Chun schools available to me in New York City. And I receive a lot of enthusiastic emails from readers who want to learn Wing Chun. I always recommend them to find a school or instructor in their area. But not everyone has access to a Wing Chun school or instructor near them. If you also have this issue, please keep reading.
There are plenty of free resources online and you can spend hours, days, or weeks studying Wing Chun this way.
If you don’t know where to begin, I recommend Sifu Chuck O’Neil’s training videos, which you can buy and watch immediately.
Disclaimer: I will earn a commission if you purchase through my links (at no extra cost to you). I have personally used Sifu Chuck’s videos and I am recommending them because they are helpful and are products that I trust. Please do not spend any money unless you feel you really need it and will help you reach your goals.
But before you do, I don’t recommend these videos for someone with no Wing Chun experience.
You should find a school in your area and learn Wing Chun before even considering purchasing *ANY* Wing Chun learning material.
There are no substitutes for an actual Wing Chun instructor.
If you’re looking to learn Wing Chun and have absolutely no access to a Sifu, my suggestion is to find a friend who is as serious as you are about learning Wing Chun. Then, purchase Sifu Chuck’s Sil Lim Tau Drills video so you can learn the fundamentals of Wing Chun and have a partner to practice the drills with. This is very important. If you cannot find a partner, do not buy or start training!
The great thing about Sifu Chuck’s video course is that you can download them to your computer immediately after purchase. You can play each video over and over again so you don’t have to worry about missing anything. You can even sync the videos on your iPhone or iPad!
I found Sifu Chuck O’Neill’s Wing Chun training videos when I was searching for ways to improve my Chi Sao training. I read through his testimonials and watched a few of his clips to get a better sense of who he is and how he teaches.
I now own two of his Wing Chun videos, Chi Sau 1 and Chi Sau 2.
Here’s why I like Sifu Chuck’s videos…
- He introduces each technique and drill, which shows you how they’re done and why they’re effective.
- Then he reviews them again with a different camera angle.
- And he ends each technique and drill with a summary and a list of key points to remember.
Sifu Chuck’s videos were originally recorded for his private students so they can review each drill and technique outside of class with a partner.
I thought I was just going to use these videos to review what I already know but to my surprise I ended up learning new drills and techniques!
By buying Sifu Chuck’s video, you’re paying for his expertise.
Sifu Chuck is already very thorough when he’s instructing in his videos but if you miss something, you can always rewatch it. So take your time, learn Wing Chun at your own pace.
